Top Ten Things NOT to Give Her For Valentine's!

Just in case you forgot, there’s only one more “shopping” day before Valentine’s. So to help, let me share with you a few suggestions someone once shared with me. Hope it’s not too late!

Top Ten Things NOT to give her for Valentines Day:

10. Any food item with the words "diet", "light", or "high fiber" on the label.

9. A box of chocolates, clumsily rearranged to hide the fact that you already sampled a few.

8. Flowers from a hospital gift shop.

7. Anything you ever gave another woman, including your mother.

6. Any clothing item with the words "slim-down" on the label.

5. Any household appliance, power tool or other item from the harder side of Sears.

4. A gift certificate to a gym.

3. Cash.

2. Anything you could have bought at the gas station mini-mart on the way home.

1. An apologetic look and the words "That was today?”

A westside friend sent this today after stumbling across the blog. She was from the west side too and graduated from West High though it sounds like shes a lot "older" than me. Just kidding! Thanks.

I stumbled across your blogging today while “googling” Ater’s – where I’ve gone most of my life as well. In fact my Mom used to make homemade jelly for them at times in the ‘50’s. I’m about 5 years older than you but your blog is great about being 55 – especially about the I-Pod and not having to whistle the kids home – I loved it!

Thank you for keeping a little bit of the old west side alive – I’ve often thought it would be nice to have a web page dedicated to “the bottoms” and also the further west side, as I lived on Glenwood until 1960 then on to graduate West High School. I was just talking to someone the other day about the circus parading down Glenwood Ave when it came to town and the Budweiser Clydesdales making a pass around the bottoms as well.

If you know of anyone collecting info to do a web layout of the bottoms please let me know?

Thanks for the memories, and God Bless you and yours!
